The first Masterclass webinar attracted 70 participants, each paying ₹99 (approximately $1.20) and generating around $84 in webinar fees. Additionally, 12 participants purchased the upsell, the Bhagavad Gita Book and access to an interactive mobile app priced at $152, bringing total sales to $1,908.

Overview & Problem

India is rapidly transforming into a hub for booming content creators. Among them is ‘Avatar Lila,’ a professional speaker and neuro-leadership coach who blends the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita with modern coaching techniques to empower individuals to master their minds and lead purpose-driven lives. He approached me to design a compelling landing page aimed at sharing insightful content in a one hour zoom webinar while persuading visitors to purchase his upsell offerings, which is a coffee table book and a mobile application. Through discussions with his team, the following key problems were identified:

  • How can we persuade users to buy the masterclass from the first scroll?

  • How can we make ourselves standout from other such online masterclasses?

The Research

The landing page design follows a tested template focused on maximizing conversions. It starts with a captivating hero section to grab the visitor's attention, immediately followed by social proof to build credibility. The narrative adopts the classic hero vs. villain approach, introducing the problem first, then offering solutions. Testimonials reinforce confidence in these solutions, and key features are highlighted with supporting case studies to add further credibility. The page wraps up with a compelling call to action, guiding the user to proceed if they're persuaded by the pitch. Furthermore, I analyzed high-conversion landing pages (see below) and adapted their structure to align with our specific requirements.

Ideation and Design Process

Wireframing

Inspired from the layout and existing landing pages, I came up with the wireframes for the Bhagawad Gita For All Masterclass Landing Page (See Below)

Based on the rough sketches I created in Notability, I refined them into a lo-fi wireframe in Figma, incorporating the copy provided by the team at BGFA.

Collaborating with the Developers

Once the mockups were completed and approved, I handed over the designs to the developers, providing a detailed explanation of the interactions and nuances included in the mocks. During the development process, I collaborated closely with the team, ensuring that the designs were implemented seamlessly and providing feedback for iterations until the final product matched the vision.

The developers leveraged the existing design system, which I had also designed, to build reusable components like cards, ensuring consistency across the product. For graphs, I actively contributed by identifying the ideal library that closely matched the look and feel of the mocks, simplifying the development process while maintaining the design fidelity.

This experience not only helped refine the product but also deepened my understanding of how engineering teams utilize design systems and technologies like frameworks, APIs, and libraries to bring designs to life.

Results and Key Takeaways

Cost Explorer has been the most successful and widely adopted feature ever launched by the team at Facets. We achieved the following results:

70
attendees in the first masterclass
12
upsells from the first masterclass. 23 from the second one
$1908
in total sales of both masterclasses and upsells

The success of this masterclass was followed by a few more sessions where the number of attendees and upsells increased 12% every session. Following changes were implemented in the future sessions:

  • Testimonials from users who attended the masterclass and bought the upsell book

  • Slightly higher price for the masterclass session to attract high ticket attendees

Finally, I learned that building complex infrastructures to support apps and websites is inherently challenging, and adding the element of cost management makes it even more difficult. A good infrastructure must be scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient to meet user and business needs effectively. The Cost Explorer feature has become one of the most valuable tools for our users, delivering an instant and tangible impact. I am proud to have contributed to its design and development, knowing it has made a significant difference for our users.
